Scotland 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Buckingham Blue

I always wonder how the mechanics work out a figure like 98% or even 80% Shocked

You are not honestly going to tell me they measure each and every pad with one of those fine micrometer things? Whistle

I mean 98%. That would be metal on metal and well past the rivets Shocked

Work colleagues FL1 was in for final service before going out of warranty and was charged for corroded rear discs. Isnt corrosion a matierial fault? Not according to T&C.

A FL1 doesnt have rear discs... Shocked

Steuart I wouldn't bother with the health forecast.
The reception lady said to me 'Oh it will only take ten minutes'. How can you give a car a thorough safety once over in ten minutes?? Shocked You would have trouble just getting all the wheels off and inspecting the discs/pads in ten minutes surely!
A good health check would involve checking fluids in engine/diffs etc, as well as a thorough underbody/steering/suspension/drivetrain/exhaust etc examination I would have thought.

You get a free 'visual' safety health check. Basically check the lights, wipers, levels under the bonnet, tyres and brakes, and a quick look underneath for oil leaks etc.
If you want all the above checked, perhaps you would consider a service Whistle
