Lets not tar all Aberdeen, but T&C does have a tarnished reputation.

Work colleagues FL1 was in for final service before going out of warranty and was charged for corroded rear discs. Isnt corrosion a matierial fault? Not according to T&C.

Incidentally the same week my (cough cough) CRV was in at Manor Oak for same service and had corroded discs - replaced under warranty as it was a fault (confirmed by Honda)- not wear or scoring etc.

He complained to manager - no joy. LR refused to help either.

Shame we may need to say "show me" and go and check on things like wear.

Idea I am on 14k and due to go in for recall, may ask for the health check an see what occurs. Any forecasts? 07 RRS Java Black

I agree, wasn't aimed at all garages, I've dealt with others and been happy with their service.

I bought mine from LR in Perth. Haven't been back though.
The last thing the salesman said was 'I will call you next week to see how you are getting on with the car'. I am still waiting 6 months later. When it was in for a flat battery fault a week after I bought it he walked past me in the showroom and looked at me as if I was like something he had stepped in at the park.

Dave what dealers have you had good relations with?

It's a sad indictment on garages when you instantly distrust what they tell you isn't it?
I used to use a local one man band years ago down south and he was excellent. Would tell you if a part would hold out till next service, would tell you when a part needed replacing for safety etc, and would play it straight down the line. Tried to save you a few quid when he could and when he did a repair you knew it was done properly.

I can honestly say in the hundreds of garages I have tried since I have NEVER found one I would trust or rely on.
Shame eh? Crying or Very sad

Steuart I wouldn't bother with the health forecast.
The reception lady said to me 'Oh it will only take ten minutes'. How can you give a car a thorough safety once over in ten minutes?? Shocked You would have trouble just getting all the wheels off and inspecting the discs/pads in ten minutes surely!
A good health check would involve checking fluids in engine/diffs etc, as well as a thorough underbody/steering/suspension/drivetrain/exhaust etc examination I would have thought.

If you get your motor serviced regularly (which going by the age of it and warranty issues etc I am sure you do) then just tell them no thanks and leave it till next service.
You are asking them to find something wrong. Whistle

Snappa you are right, its all in the words - maybe its a health check for them? Job creation!!

I had the similar experience about the call back when I got mine at T&C but to be fair a warmer reception when I went back in for some snaggings.

I used a one man band up the top of Altens when I had a 406 hdi - he is used by all the taxi drivers and doesnt fix what aint broken. Cured a water ingress prolem for £50 when peugeot wanted the car in for "a week at least"! Dont know if he does LR but will ask (software issues maybe be a problem) - so I am ready after the warranty ends.

Heard the LR specialit in Tullos is good (not T&C he he) but very busy Sad 07 RRS Java Black

Health check took nearly an hour to do, as well as taking out the fuse.

Had a decent level of service from the Peugeot dealer when I had me 306 in BOD before it changed hands, also Mazda at mounthooly (spelling) when buying the wifes car.

I've also heard that the LR specialist is good too, but as you say they're very busy....I wonder why Whistle ______________________

You get a free 'visual' safety health check. Basically check the lights, wipers, levels under the bonnet, tyres and brakes, and a quick look underneath for oil leaks etc.
If you want all the above checked, perhaps you would consider a service Whistle
