FL 2 is this possible?

Hi all, i test drove a 56 FL2 SE with 74k warranted miles, on the first test i noticed a shuddering when turning onto the motorway around 40mph, on MW doing 70 all the way back to base there was no other vibration, i pointed this out to the dealer and said i think the wheels need to be balanced, when i returned for a second test drive the dealer told me they took the car for a spin and could find no fault or shuddering, saying there may have been something on the the tyre which may have caused the shuddering? i took the car for a second test, this time with the dealer onboard, nothing on the bend, accelerated to 70, nothing, then whilst slowing down to turn off the motorway, there it was at 50mph heavy shuddering, accelerated up past 50, no shuddering, slow down to 50, shuddering, drop below 50, no shuddering, so the dealer said he would check ball joints, balance tyres etc, they called me a few days later saying, no faults with ball joints, or wheel balance, but they told me that if a FL2 had been left idle for a while with the band brake full up, that this could cause shuddering if the hand brake gets stuck after a while?? is this possible?
any advice would be appreciated
thank you

hi, thx for the replies, the dealer phoned me today and said it has all been fixed with no vibrations, i am about to return and test drive again, if there is no vibration would you consider it safe to buy? also i should probably ask if the rear diff is covered with the warranty (3 month)

Personally no. As npinks has said, there are plenty out there. But that's just MHO.

Read this and then you may want to walk away or in the alternative get an extended high value warranty thrown in on the deal.

I had a very similar problem with mine funny enough on the test drive, it turned out to be the handbrake adjuster had seized which I replaced and it's not been an issue since in the 3 years I've had it.

Call the dealer and ask to speak to whomever "solved" the vibration problem. Find out exactly how they solved it. Was a part replaced? etc.

How forthcoming they are with that information should help you gauge things a bit, and you can post their reply here to see if the fix makes any sense. 2008 3.2L I6 Auto

obviously that the consensus is to walk away, but if anyone has the knowledge to what could cause a shudder/vibration then could you post a reply

My thoughts are clutch, gearbox, driveshafts binding brake etc Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
