Just occurred - when I unlock the car, there are 2 loud beeps. The last time this ocurred was 3 months ago and the agent said it was due to a problem with the volumetric sensor at the sun roof. It's happened again.

Anyone with a better solution or reason for the beeping?

It's a software cliche and there is a bulletin on topix that covers the fix procedure.
Dealer should know about this.
Tell them to do their job and action the bulletin!!!!
Has been covered before on here if you do a search.

Is there a way for me to check what version of the software is in the car?

I would suggest you get a copy of the bulletin, either get it off topix yourself or ask the dealer to produce it in front of you and check the details of the update.
The dealer needs an "Engineering password" from LR technical to carry out the bulletin fix, so ask them to produce the paperwork!!!!
Off the top of my head I can't remember what the associated module/fix was, pretty sure its on here if you do a search.
You trusting your dealer that he's telling the truth or know what they are doing.......
Dealer told you it done..... check your OSH, its should be listed??

My fl2 had this problem ans was fixed by software update! It hasn't come back since.

Can you clarify something for me please - 2 beeps on opening the car or closing?
2 horn soundings on opening is the bulletin fix.
2 horn soundings on closing is controlled from the driver configurable menu in the driver configure screen.

Open Main Menu, select "Vehicle Set Up"




Scroll through "Vehicle Set Up" options and select "Audible Lock Warning"


Press "OK" to deselect "Audible Lock Warning"

Have you tried a hard reset?

I had a similar problem a long while back - I don't know whether my car has had any software update unless it was part of a normal service. See http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic17329.html

The 2 beeps on unlocking were linked, I believe in my case, to low battery voltage. Although the battery may have been recharged, the beeps remained until the hard reset. The MY2013 cars seem very sensitive and wary of dropping battery voltage (hence the radio shutting down very quickly unless the engine is running) and the car has a system that reduces charging to save fuel, which doesn't help the battery if you do short journeys. 2016 BMW X3 30d SE in red
