Fuel Sender / Gauge Fault - Tech Bulletin / How to?

So it seems my fuel sender is on the blink!

Happened about 3 times over the last week, so have done a bit of reading and taken the bung out and wiggled the connector and sprayed some WD40 on it!

No someone said there is a tech bulletin on what to do, can anyone point me in the direction of where it is please as I cant seem to find it!!

£230 is a really good price. Landrover usually want around £600 + and my local indi charged me £330 to get it done.

This is for just the hard wiring solution, not the replacement sender unit, so lets see what happens. Thumbs Up

I hope the hard join fixes it, I'm onto my second join without success. I've had two senders replaced, gauges repaired and wiring tested and repaired. Oh and then a few software updates... and just round out the troubles, the car has had to be towed twice as I've run out of fuel since I get no Censored warning!

This has been going on since last October, six Censored months and still not fixed. Everything except the actual tank has been replaced. What next? perhaps the car!

I am at a loss as to what do do next Banging Head I had extended warranty which expired a week ago Big Cry and the issue is still ongoing.

Forgot to mention Oxford LR sorted this out for me and they issue has now been resolved.

I thought I'd update the thread for anyone else who happens to have similar issues.

So, it appears that the dealer might have finally managed to fix it. The list of fixes is quite long -

2 x Fuel Senders (one on each side of the saddle)
1 x cable repair (external)
2 x cable join repair (internal)
1 x software update
1 x instrument 'repairs'
1 x internal pipe between each side of the saddle.

Well it seems this the last fix of the pipe work between the two sides was the last piece of the puzzle. There were cheers and perhaps a celebratory dance when the fuel gauge, indicator light & chime all works as expected!! It only nine months.

I had this problem! It started last year and, as per most people's experience got worse and worse! Eventually, even turning off and removing/ replacing the key wouldn't sort it. Tried the internal tank hard wiring fix and that didn't work! The second time we removed the tank we replaced the entire gubbins of sender units/ floats/ tank transfer pump and that finally cured it!

I had the same a year ago and I wiggled and sprayed the electrical connector under the rear seat; no improvement until I disconnected the battery for a few minutes (hard reset). That fixed it and no further problems, fingers crossed.

Lucky you! With mine there were 'dead spots' on the variable resistor track apparently. I've got the whole assembly in the garage but haven't bothered to look at it yet. I'm just a bit annoyed with myself for not having the whole job done properly the first time round - I just got them to cut out the connection and solder up the wires. It took another session to drop the tank and renew the senders etc. Still, my local garage has got removing the tank down to a fine art now! Colin.
