2009 TD4 no throttle after start, low idling, battery light

I have an intermittent fault with my diesel automatic. There is sometimes no power at all after engaging drive. It does not matter how hard I press the accelerator pedal, there is absolutely no response. This only happens after starting and not all the time. Also the fuel meter doesn't seem to work. In some instances after 10 seconds or so suddenly the fuel meter starts to work, the battery light goes off and the throttle works. I've had it twice that it didn't get out of this mode at all. Unhooking the battery for a while helped.
I had the battery tested and it is still fine and wishing specs.

Any ideas?

Sounds like low fuel pressure? Any fault codes available? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Hi, it doesn't give any faults. Should I look at replacing the fuel filter?

Keen to see the bulletin, should I go to a LR dealer to get a software upgrade?

If as Alex points out if there was a Bulletin regarding this then if you go on to Topix it should come up as an outstanding field action that hasn't been done. A LR dealer will be able to rectify if so Thumbs Up MY15

Not necessary...
An outstanding field action is generally emitted when damage to car components and/or occupants can occur.
This issue is not the case and it's only a special service message: "If a customer complains, then....", otherwise... Very Happy

I had this very same fault with my MY10 TD4 auto. If only I'd known then that there was a simple fix for it. It was not common and dealer more or less said, "If we can't reproduce it, we can't fix it".

So the dealer was not very helpful

And I spoke to a few more people. The same thing that kept coming up was fuel and I ordered a new fuel filter. After going through the replacement and priming it is good as gold. On the day I replaced the fuel filter there was not a great response from the engine but after that I have not had any problems. Must have taken some dodgy diesel.

I used to get a similar fault - once every couple of weeks.
Start engine, very low rpm, wouldn't move off (auto), battery warning light, no permanent engine management faults listed.

Eventually (couple of months) the motorised valve in the air intake failed with stripped gears.
Not had the fault in the last six months, since I changed the motorised valve. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

None of the suggested solutions works for me.

New, fully charged battery.
Latest software.
New Throttle body.
New fuel filter.

Any other ideas?
