Pub/restaurant recommendation nr Martham, Norfolk

Any recommendations for lunch on a Saturday, within around 30 minutes drive south west of Martham / Potter Heigham (coming up the A11/A47 most likely) ?

Pub or restaurant, not fussed, just needs to have quickish service as I need to be somewhere at 2.30 and good food.

Thanks

You could try the Red Lion at Eaton (http://www.redlion-eaton.co.uk). Not far from the A11/A47 junction. Good food but you may need to book. If you don't mind a small chain (Vintage Inns), then go another junction east on the A47 and come off the A140 junction and try the Marsh Harrier (http://www.vintageinn.co.uk/content/vintage-inn/en/restaurants/east/themarshharriernorwich). Never had any problems with either.

The Fur and Feathers at Woodbastwick Smile It is the pub where the Woodfordes brewery is based. Excellent ale and food is good too. Can be worth booking a table if you're going at a popular time

I second the Fur and Feathers, but it can get busy, especially at weekends. Steve

Many thanks

I was leaning towards the Red Lion, but the Fur and Feathers puts me that little bit closer and the menu looks very appealing.

It's been a few years since I visited, but the steak and kidney pudding was even better than my mums, and that's a remarkable achievement. Steve

I've not been to F&F for about 6 months - mostly put off cos of the roadworks that were going on at the time. Will be going back soon.

Food is normally pretty good and that steak and kidney steam pudding is a challenge you just have to try..can you clear the plate?? All washed down with some Nelson's Revenge mmmmm

Best advice to book a table.

Fur & Feathers.

Very nice setting, arrived a bit early so very little atmosphere for a while. Staff pretty friendly.

Wasn't drinking as I was driving and had long day ahead.

Was tempted by much on the menu but in the end I had a Steak Sandwich special, other half had Ham, Egg and Chips (without chips but with extra tomato). I finished off with Summer Pudding with Eton Mess.

We are rather spoilt by having an excellent gastro pub just down the road from us, but I thought the food at the F&F was decent without being anything special. Very good value though and would certainly consider again if I was in the area, and was able to sample the local brew.
