Service Required message keeps appearing

Hi, I'd posted a while back about a service required message appearing on the dash of our 14 plate F2 on startup. It had a service about 2 -3months ago after which the message went away. It then reappeared about a month ago and I reset it myself using the pedal press for 1 min method described elsewhere.

While driving the car about 2 weeks ago a message briefly appeared saying 1,500 miles until next service due. The service required message has now reappeared a week later on startup and only a few miles more driven

Almost seems like the service indicator timer is incorrectly counting time/mileage... Anyone else had this or know of a fix? Can't find anything searching online about it.

Are you doing lots of short journeys? The ECM monitors the vehicle usage, and prompts a service based on the driving being done, taking everything into account.

I'd tried that steering wheel method but it didn't seem to work for me...

It's used daily commuting maybe 20-30 mins/10 miles each way on country lanes / a roads so I'd have thought it gets a reasonable run. It doesn't do any town/city driving.

Last service was probably 3k miles or 3 months ago I'd say. It's had a few long journeys thrown in there too.

I got it wrong the first few times. Print it off & highlight the key moves otherwise it is easy to make a mistake. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I change my oil at 10k mile intervals obviously before the car thinks it needs a service, did it this morning actually. My service due message will come on at some stage in the next few thousand miles and I'll just delete it using one of the methods on here. Just tried the steering wheel method again, took a few goes but it has now cleared. I'll see how it goes and if it comes back again I think.

Seems strange how it's happened so quickly though.

Agree on the servicing, always had it done yearly/10kish miles even if it is more than recommended!
