I'm not for a second denying lower profile tyres flex less and corner better on sports vehicles. But this is a Freelander. They come out of the factory with 65 profile tyres... yet according to you mine with a 50 profile will be "squirming all over the place"?

What you've done, for whatever reason, is force a tyre on a wheel that is beyond what is widely considered do-able. You've stretched it to a shape it's not supposed to go in. If you want to do it, good for you. But the tyre fitters I spoke to said it was dangerous, and all 3 of them said they would refuse to fit them if I asked (and I was paying!). And I'm not talking about the YTS kid at Kwik-fit - these were reputable garages in my area.
