Help sd4 engine no start ???

Here is the story my freelander 2 sd4 i put a new cambelt on it used all land rover timing pins all timeing is spot on but why i was waiting for a camshaft seal the fuel pipes were disconnected for two days and can only get 750 kpa at the rail and seams to return the fuel from the rail at this pressure.have bled the system numorus times .but keeps coming up crankshaft sensor circuit a performane i have put scope on the crank sensor and is reading a nice square waveforme .changed the crank sensor and checked the reluctor that all seems fine .clear the code and it comes back as permant fault .checking with scope was back probing crank sensor.also checked drive to th hp pump.

is it a TD4 or an SD4 ? profile says TD4 but the post says SD4. Not sure if it makes a difference to a cambelt change or fuel system

SD4 on a 2007MY ? is that correct

SD4 didn't come in until late 2010/2011 facelift unless your FL2 has had an engine swap

ah right Thumbs Up

not sure if cambelt and fuel system are different between the TD4 and the SD4 (they are different power outputs, SD4 and later TD4 have DPF, SD4 have different turbos plus a few other differences I think)

its only the Freelander 1 TD4 that was the 2.0 BMW engine 2000MY - 2006MY), Freelander 2 TD4 were the Peugeot/Ford/Jaguar/Volvo 2.2 engine from late 2006MY>

When you removed the crank pulley, did you remove the trigger wheel found behind it, if yes could you have damaged it or incorectly refited it?

I was really carefull with it i used a wheel bearing magnectic encoder to check the trigger wheel and its defently not damaged and also picks up nice square waveform and also rpm gauge moves aswell just cant figure why it keeps putting that code up its a permant code aswell .as soon as you clear it comes straight back when you crank it .

would a faulty fuel gauge on one of these cut the engine out as the fuel light was flashing I put 10 pounds of fuel in it and it shot up to a quarter of a tank which seams a lot for £10 which could possibly be why not a lot of pressure at the rail as its returning to the tank to stop a total fuel run out and manual bleed. ?

My next check would be the loom/connector to the crank sensor, find the other end which is probably back at the Engine management unit and run a continuity check on the wires, maybe disconnecting it has broken a wire

I read many times that SD4 are strictly identical to TD4 excepting the output. 190 HP vs 150 HP. everything else is same.

Found out today the trigger wheel has only one pick up and not 2 i assumed the other one was for the pilot injection i put it back on the scope and chanel b on the pcv no feed to pcv .it was definitely had two pickups on the wave form put new reluctor ring on cranked her over feed to pcv fired straight up .there was no damage at all to the ring and it was two perfect squares on the abs ring encoder ... Very Happy
