United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Loire Blue

I have been looking for a month or two and not much of interest around, however come 1st March with the 17 plate and things started to move. Having spoken to several dealers this month it was clear that 2 and 3 year old FL2's were coming in (presumably at the end of a PCP). However having closely followed the prices (of approved used) over the last few weeks I think that they have suddenly gone up by a couple of £k. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

new car going well, Mrs G want a cushion being a short arse she cant see the bonnet while driving, something which alarms her after the lofty seats on RRS.

I point out that on most cars the bonnet isnt really visible to any driver

but thats the only complaint so far. good car , no trim etc has dropped off yet, contrary to forum expectations.

weirdest thing is using the steering wheel paddles to command shift, the box doesnt seem to revert to auto in a hurry and 9 speeds are too many to control manually, you have to return to auto by holding a paddle for 1 second. At work

Take a photo of it that she can keep in her handbag or dangle it from her keyring.

Just back from looking at the new Skoda Kodiaq. Quite impressed, I think it knocks spots off the Discovery Sport AND can be had with 5 or 7 seats (the latter being far better than the DS), with a spare wheel, and with a 180bhp turbo petrol engine.

The thing that stops me is my vow never to buy another VW group car, partly because of dieselgate, and partly because of problems with the last two VW cars, incompetent dealers, and impotent customer service, (although Skoda dealers are said to be better than VW).

So why did I bother to go and look? ... Curiosity I suppose. Anyway the DS now has serious competition.

Yes, from £21,500 for the base 1.4 Petrol Turbo 5 seat 2wd up to £35k for the absolute top of the range 190PS Desel Auto 4x4.

Spec for spec I’d guess £5 to £10k less than the DS.

There is a configurator up on the Skoda Website. The configuration I tried, 180PS 2.0 Turbo Petrol Auto 4x4 7 seat with spare wheel in top range Edition trim came our about £33k so equivalent to a much lower spec DS.

It's good to see that there are some out there that haven't forgotten VW's bad behaviour over diesel emissions. It's not just the blatant cheating, but it's the fuel that it's given the tabloid press to go on an anti diesel witch hunt - it's going to be a big problem for all of the law abiding manufacturers and their customers (and that's us!).

Yet VW are selling more than ever Confused

Looked at a kodiaq today as well. Looks good. Will try and pry a demo out of them at some point in the future. The 190bhp diesel should tick the boxes

Is that "190bhp" in normal driving, or under official test conditions only?! Whistle

That's because, despite their cheating, their engines are still some of the best out there for power and economy. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE
