I think if you have the PTC, the dealer would normally wait for the recall notice to be issued, than just doing the recall job on the off chance, and the possibility of not been reimbursed from Land Rover Warranty, a 10 minute job would still be claimed back Rolling Eyes .

If i was in your position i would have a beer and be wearing factor 45 on the beach Whistle wait for the recall notice, if it is a worldwide recall on all FL2's you get yours eventually.

Without a notice, you'll have no problems with any insurance claims IF the worst happens.

I don't think they can't be bothered, they just need the paperwork to be in place Thumbs Up

Nick - I will let you know if that is really the case next week after my FL2 has its service. I have not had the Recall but have discussed it with them - they knew nothing about this recall, but my guess is they will pull the fuse during the service and keep quiet about it - sneaky bunch or bar-stewards they are to. Hi People, looking at your previous posts for this recall there is something with the vehicle id i dont understand:

Dave wrote:
The recall is now official as it is now on the VOSA website as follows:-

Build Start Date : 01/02/2007
Build End Date : 23/05/2008

Vehicle Id : SALFA27B47H000100 to SALFA24C48H111695

bjartin wrote:

Digit 10 is the number in front of H, and mine is 7 (the car's production DATE: 11-05-2007) .. so it is correct.
One should thus look at what is highlighted here:

Vehicle Id : SALFA27B47H000100 to SALFA24C48H111695

Stormsky, thanks for the link, it is good to have.

My vehicle id is: SALFA27B78H****** so according to what you are saying it is production of 2008 right? but on my papers it says that is production of 2007 (not sure about the month as i dont have the paper now, but i think its 09/2007). Can you please tell me what am i doing wrong here?
Another thing, is this VOSA thing only for England or other countries as well? because my vehicle id is within the range the recall specifies but Dealer here in Cyprus says that this "problematic part" is not installed on my car. So what i am thinking is that if my car is within the VOSA range and this applies worldwide then my car should have this "problematic part" and the dealer is bulls***ing me Smile Freelander 2 GS TD4, Stornoway Grey, Manual, called BEAST!!!

If your 6 last number is higher than 111695, then go free. If they are lower than 111695, you're with the group.

It not the people who can see it that you need to worry about, what you'll normally find is that its somebody who get the info from a site like this, plus model, colour etc and clones your car at the other end of the country, i know cyprus isn't that big, but they could be on the mainland etc. Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

This topic has gone quiet for a few days so I thought I'd better bring it back to life ....

Actually this is very strange. I've read about the problems with the heater, flat batteries etc, etc, and have felt quite smug because my car hasn't given me the slightest bother in this regard... UNTIL today!

Car was serviced last week and the PTC (?) heater was disconnected as evidenced by the fuse which has been pulled but cable tied to the fuse box to indicate it has been done.

Have been away this weekend, parked car on Friday evening and returned to it lunch time today, it wouldn't start. Battery not completelty flat but not enough to turn the starter over, eventually jumped it using one of those 'starter' packs (very good invention).

So how come I've completed 45k miles in 20 months and not had a moments bother .... then it goes in for service where they pull the fuse to prevent the flat battery problem .... and within 4 days I get a a flat battery ....

Something isn't right here .... Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!

Certainly missing the PTC now it has been isolated.

Cabin is taking longer to warmer up.

What good timing to have this additional heat source removed at the start of winter !!! Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!

Are you surprised.
My experience is that there is always something wrong after a visit to the workshop. The heart is in my throat when I retrieve the car, and it is not only because of the costs. LR Freelander2 2,2 Td4 HSE manuel Stornaway Grey (Metallic) & Ebony Black Leather & Sun/Moon-roof & Bi-Xenon & Roof Rails & Tow bar & Body side rubbing strips & Cold climate pack & Privacy glass & NavTeq . Just had mine done yesterday along with the first service.
I have called them today as the cabin has been blo*dy cold on the school run. I'm not impressed.
I have also noticed that the car is starting in the snow programme since it was serviced...is this normal when the car is near freezing? It's done it twice today so far.

I have called my dealer to expalin.

Would they undo the heater thing I wonder?
