also looking at clear 3rd brake light, black side side vents and repeaters, facelift chrome boot strip and facelift bumper once funds allow.

as well as the usual LED light upgrades

I would keep the brake light that you have and the side repeaters and just smoke them out with tail light tint spray will cost you a tenner for a can. Similarly get you side vents painted unless a replacement set in gloss black are cheaper to buy. I was planning on keying and spraying the vents myself this time round, they are about £50-£60 to buy.

Where do you get the lens spray from for the repeaters and brake light ?

As for the D Pillars....................... I had actually thought about going gloss black on them to blend in with the tinted glass

back from the dark side.................... into a very dark FL2

Hycote lens paint is what I use ...


It's really good stuff and the results are fantastic. When applying it it goes on like clear lacquer wth a hint of black as you build the coats up the more you apply the darker the lens becomes. You can completely blacken the lenses and the light output is not reduced. Just don't do too thick over the lenses obviously.

so multiple thin layers all over the outside of the lens until the required darkness is reached ?

Correct Rog just take your time and allow them to fully dry and shake the can well to avoid any spitting! It is a really easy job tbh just make sure that you clean the lenses with white spirit to remove all grime/polish. When spraying build it up in layers giving them a gently dusting and move the can along to ensure equal coverage. If you were closer by I would have happily done the painting for you

If I stray into the wrong areas round Mansfield then its possible

what I meant to imply was I will provide a good surface for the black paint to adhere to by lightly roughing the surface of the plastic vents
