Can anyone tell me if it is really necessary to remove the glove box to access the passenger compartment fuse box? There is a plastic cover in the footwell under the glove box which may give access but I'm reluctant to pull things apart unless it's really needed.
I can see that the facelift glove box is secured differently from earlier models but the handbook diagram is not too clear when comparing to the actual car. Any tips on its removal if I need to go down that route?

I'm planning on wiring in a dash cam. The handbook suggests fuses 2, 4 and 7 are spare but I guess only trial and error will determine which are switched.

In my experience (on a RHD) it is necessary to remove or at least full drop down the glovebox.

Doing it is a real pain. My method is to open the glove box, empty it completely. Then, (at least on a RHD) feel over the back wall of the glovebox on the right hand side. There you should be able to feel the retainer / soft open catch (just with your fingers.) with careful manipulation you should be able to push the end of the catch out of the retainer. The glove box will then drop fully down and rest on the floor.

The fuse box is then behind a flap of sound deadening.

Getting the retainer catch fitted back once you've finished can be even more difficult, there isn't much space to work and you can only really use the end of your fingers.

I hope that helps. Someone might have a better method -and I'd be interested to hear it if they do.

You're correct. I've just replaced fuse 52 and getting the retainer/damper back in place was a real pain and involved scraped knuckles and expletives. However, after all that (and despite what the handbook says) I discovered it is perfectly possible (on MY14 at least) to replace the fuses by leaving the glove box alone and simply detaching the plastic cover in the footwell, which clips back in easily.
