But you would have to tell any new insurer about the claim on your current policy. The new insurer then uses that info to help calculate the price.

Yep - but insurers work on actuarial data and the one incident in 40 years will be seen within the wider context. Not as cheap as it would have been but continuing to have the basis of NCB attached. |

I believe nowadays that when you apply for insurance they look up your claims record from a central shared database when they work out the quote. They also take note of incidents that you have informed them about but not made a claim so be careful about ringing up to discuss if it mught be worth claiming for something.

Yep, I'm aware of all that ad I have no intention of withholding information. However, a protected NCB is a protected NCB even if the overall premium rises. |
