After the somewhat shocking revelations about VW's blatant deception of US emission measurement & control regime, how long will it be before we discover there may by a few other major vehicle manufacturers taking similar steps to con us all and maximise profits rather than improve their engine technology?

Folk complain all the time about them not being able to get anywhere near the mpg the makers claim so thats another con in a way, tests being done with altered vehicles and not what you can buy.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if other manufacturers were doing the same. There's plenty of diesel engined cars that I have tested (MOT) and when it comes to the smoke test you cannot even get a reading on the machine when you carry out the test. You have to make a note that the smoke output was not enough to generate a reading. You could be revving it up to the limit (3,000rpm) and the machine is telling you "Please insert probe into exhaust"! |

I was in a LR dealership yesterday and casually mentioned the VW scandal and was given chapter and verse on how it did not affect them and that there was an official press release saying so. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

So what if someone sells a VW diesel car privately? Do they have to get the buyer to sign a disclaimer so that they don't get sued? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
