United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Orkney Grey
Subaru Forrester

Had a look at a new Forrester last week as an option when ours is 2 yrs old , it was the Diesel Lineartronic XC model at £28500 , popped back to the showroom on Saturday with the other half who drives the FL2 everyday and she didn't like it at all.
Said it looked too much like an estate car which she hates , doesn't seem much about to inspire at that price point , any suggestions or what have you looked at ?
Daily use is run to work but need the all wheel drive capability for winter .

Keep the Freelander - 2 years old is nothing, and there's nothing better out there at the price point.

I used to have a Forester, albeit an earlier model. It's a decent car, but the FL is better.

From the many threads I've read on here, including one I started myself, unless you go to a BMW X3, which folks seem to like, you won't find a car that ticks all the boxes like the FL2 does, unless you really have no need for such a car of course Smile

Stick with it and enjoy it. I just met a guy this evening who drives the same car as mine and he commented how great it is. He used to do emergency hospital collections in the winter in our area in a Discovery and when he stopped that he switched to an FL2 and loves it. Still really capable but a better drive. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

Yes the more I look around there not many obvious rivals , some seem fairly capable and specced but the shape and looks put us off .
Looked on line at VW Tiguan/XC60/AudiQ3/5/Outlander , most above our budget , probably keeping for a while now , was a little concerned re depreciation of FL as a vehicle no longer available .

Don't scoff at the new Hyundai Tucson, had a test drive of the 185 bhp auto, quite impressed, interior quality has taken a tremendous jump also. Obviously off road is no match with the LR range.

Doesn't seem to be reflected in the price of those on sale currently. If anything I think the used FL2 prices have gone up and it looks to me as if the LR dealers are selling FL2s now that a year or so ago they wouldn't have had on their forecourts. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
