What a waste

I have recently acquired a new business premises, doubled our size, warehouse space was needed most, we now have space to do what we want and do it with a little style, good upstairs office space and warehouse, showroom below.
Obviously, the Internet plays a part in most businesses, we have had BT Infiniti line put in, 40Meg, ample for our needs, which is 4 office staff, emails and an online service application we use, oh, and me watching what goes on, on here Laughing

The BT engineer was surprised that "you don't use this" pointing to a little white box, apparently we have a direct fibre into the building and could get speeds up to 10Gig Shocked I daren't enquire how much that would be Laughing

So he connected our single phone line to the cables, of which was capable of 70 lines Laughing what the building was previously I don't know, seems a lot of overkill somewhere, I don't think we will expand that much.

It is surprising how many lines can be required. I worked on the comms side of things in my IT dept and for an office of say 100 people you need the capacity to ensure that a large number of them could be making or receiving calls at the same time.

Of course IP telephony has changed all that to a degree.

I'd love fibre to my house Smile FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

There was a resent 'incentive' to go fibre to the building I enquired and the cost was something like £300 per month which was total waste of time for me, I'll keep the Fibre to cabinet at more than enough than we need Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

We had a similar situation in an office I used to work in - the building had a fibre connection but when we asked the BT engineer (who was there to terminate 4 x SDSL copper connections) if we could use it he said that it was unlikely that they would be able to find the connection in the exchange, which was only a couple of hundred metres away.

Says something about the state of the BT Openreach infrastructure ....

Friends of ours who moved into a new build home on an estate which has been in the process of getting built for about 7 years (its a big one) have no phone line after 4 months if living there. Openreach keep updating them and their neighbours with the info that they currently have no plans or dates for connecting the street. Shocking. This is an estate less than a mile from the centre of Stirling, so not the middle of nowhere. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
