LED replacement light failure.

Hi,
I replaced my boot light for a U36W6 (239) 36 -39mm 'Cool White Dome Light' from Ultraleds.co.uk.
Unfortunately it only survived a month before failing, giving probably around 12 illuminations Big Cry

As I did not fit the LED for 2 months Ultraleds will not replace it telling me that they "only come with a 90 day warranty but they are very AFFORDABLE".

£8.99 + postage for a month strikes me as a very dear option.

I now have a cheap £1 LED dome lamp on velcro Smile

Regards, Alan

Alan I would be tempted to tell UltraLeds that you are a memebr of car forums and that you know many members purcahse from them and that you would hate to have to detail your feelings on the product and give them a bad rep.

I think their statement is unacceptable and to say that they are cheap is a #### reason IMHO. Once you've tasted GREY you'll never go back!

I have had probs with Ultraleds recently, well the customer service anyway. I've bought several bulbs over time and in one order I purchased 5 x a particular bulb. When they arrived only two were in the packet. UL's said they would investigare if I sent back the unopened packet, which was too late as I had already opened them. They relunctantly sent the missing 3 bulbs a week later but said they had "marked my account to say no future claims would be allowed if I opend the packet!" This made me feel like a right criminal and I will not be dealing with them again. Shame because delivery is usually very quick. I think having spent £30k on a FL2 I would not waste my time trying to nick 3 bulbs worth £6 of UL's!!

I bought two leds from Ultraleds, fitted the first to interior light above dash but as I was fitting it I must have shorted the circuit because it blew a fuse. Whilst fuse was out fitted the other one in the boot. Replaced fuse and neither work so I am back to original bulbs.

Do not know if leds or me (or both) were at fault.

Also found that out that on the interior lights fuse are the electric windows, not a big deal but as I blew the fuse on a Sunday and could not get hold of one straight away it is surprising how much you miss opening the windows.

I e mailed Ultra LED's a couple of weks ago and never got a reply. I ended up buying my LED from e bay for £1.99, it was faulty on arrival so I emailed the dealer. He replied very quickly requesting I send him a photo of the faulty LED's. I received a replacement within a couple of days. Very Happy

CG, how could you imply such wrong doing from a Corporate Banker like me.........ahhh yes I see your point Laughing

for the record, officer, i now have my 5 requested bulbs.

My neighbour blew his fuse whilst installing the LED's. Trick is to switch the switch fully to the left so now power is going through them before trying to insert it in the hole Embarassed

"Corporate Banker" Shocked I bet you have all the bulbs Laughing

To avoid blowing a bulb use a wood or plastic tool (its easy to push the bulb in to far and you have to prise it out) and a bit more finesse than your average farmer Whistle At work

I need to find a reputable supplier of white LED bulbs with a sensible guarantee; if the module with LED's was built properly they should last longer than the FL2.

I emailed Ultraleds.co.uk that I would place my dissatisfaction on this forum but as it took me several emails and nearly a month to get this response:- "These affordable products only came with A 90 day warranty i’m afraid". With such poor customer service that I and other members have experienced I don't expect they will ever reply.

I have to say many of the LED products for cars are being manufactured in China and unfortunately the quality is not always there.

A UK brand I would recommend using is PRISM which is a brand from RING Automotive and is a company I have dealt with very closely on LED projects over the last 4 years or so. I've fitted many bulbs and items from them on my Audi and never had issues and loved teh xenon lamp kit I got from them which I\'ve had fitetd for 2 years without problem.

Yes I have had a number of free items for testing from RING as part of my job, but that is not why I mention them. Having dealt with them very closely I knwo firsthand that the company looks for the best solutions and the team there really know what's what.

You can get their products from Ripspeed I see now, But I know they were also sold in Halfords in the past. Once you've tasted GREY you'll never go back!
