Newbie alert!

Hi,

I am due to pick up a freelander 2 HSE td4 in the next few days.

I just thought I'd say hi!

Hi!

I will be maintaining most of the easy stuff on the car myself. i.e service, brakes etc. the cars has done 74 k miles .

However is there anything I should look out for or do like, clean like egr valve. If anyone has any advice for job I should put on the list of to do's I'm all ears!

Thanks in advance.

Phil

Welcome to the forum, sorry I don't get involved with the oily bits leave that to someone else but others will be along shortly with advice.
Don't forget we need photos when it arrives. FL2 SD4 Metropolis Auto Santorini Black / ivory completely stock.

It's true that light travels faster than sound, some people look quite intelligent until you hear them speak.

Stop global winging.

If the cars been serviced properly you shouldnt need to do much at all except keep servicing it properly?

EGR valve: leave well alone. Use 2 stroke as a fuel additive, plenty of info on forum, and if car is used for a lot if short journeys give it a spirited!! run for a few miles weekly.
You will enjoy this car.

Current 13 plate FL2 is my 4th and there will be a 5th next year if I can locate a 64 plate with low mileage. Enough said about what I think on FL2. All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.

Ummm, please do a lot of research before putting 2 stroke in, I blame this for killing my x-type diesel.
I recommend keeping it nice and clean and that way you spot problems early.

With the egr blanked, it takes longer to warm up but seems good to me 👍 2008 xs

I'm with cqr - blanking the egr stops all the c*** from the exhaust going back into the engine and keeps everything nice and clean. It also helps avoid the swirl flaps from getting brittle, breaking up and going in to the engine. Longer warm up time is hardly noticeable in practice.
