Black smoke out exhaust, engine light one and fault code

Hi there,

I recently purchased a 2009 Land Rover freelander 2 td4 hse with 130000kms on the clock.. Now the engine light has come on and stayed on, there's black smoke coming out the exhaust when I accelerate and I've checked the fault codes and they are as follows: 1/ P0380 glow plug/ heater circuit A. 2/ P068b ECM/PCM power relay de energised too late. 3/ P0299 turbocharger/supercharger A underboost condition.. Car is driving fine but is making a humming almost rattling sound and just isn't sounding the healthiest..
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated..

The "underboost" error and black smoke suggest to me a split or dislodged intercooler hose.

Thanks for the reply!

Is that something I need to be really concerned about and more importantly is it expensive?
Is it easy to fix myself or would a Mechanic have to do it and if so any idea on the cost involved?

Any advice of that's the case would be super! I'll have a look tomorrow and see if it is the inter cooler pipe..

Thanks again!! Very Happy

If it is one of the hoses it's not a hugely difficult job, no special tools needed, mainly just a 7mm socket driver or screwdriver for the hose clips. The hardest bit is getting access to them, some are difficult to reach, plus of course identifying the culprit in the first place.

As to cost, personally I've no idea, I generally take care of most jobs like that myself so I have no reference for the cost.
