Hi everyone, as per the title, i have a droning sound from the rear that gets louder and quieter by speed alone and not by road surface, i have been told it is a faulty rear diff, my question is, how safe is it to drive the vehicle with a failing/faulty rear diff

Talk to Austen at Bell Engineering - he is the expert on FL2 diff problems. And of course the various fixes. |

I have merged threads into this one, please try and keep ongoing diff issues here and it will make it easier to search and keep all the useful info in one place. |

I did about a 600 mile round trip to Scotland and back, including driving round whilst there, with a dodgy bearing. It didn't get any worse whilst I was there. It was replaced a few days after I got home. Mine would only make a noise when there was no power going to it, I.E. when coasting to a stop, or going down hill. |

On the advice of Austen (Bell Engineering) I removed the fuse for the Haldex when my Diff started to whine. I was in Belgium at the time do had another 800kms to drive with the problem. I think it keeps the car in 2wheel drive and reduces the risk of further transmission issues. Only dead fish go with the flow |
