Remaps

Hi new to forum. I have a freelander1 td4 2006 ,had a remap on it and just wanted a bit more umph, in 1st and 2nd gear pulling away and a bit more grunt at top end, when I picked up, to be honest couldn't really tell any difference, cost me 300 quid. Anybody had this done with different results Confused

One of the "problems/features " of the FL2 is that it has a very low first gear to make up for the fact that it doesn't have a hi/low range box. It was the same on a Freelander 1. You just have to floor it. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

i have a rover 75 tourer with the same engine that's had a a remap and certainly made a big difference to that so if done properly should be the same outcome.I have a van Aakan tuning box fo a freelander 1 if you are interested, again made the car much livelier and better on fuel at the same time as long as you do not put your foot down to much! Thanx for comeback, it was a garage in sheffield well known for performance tinkering, JPs. The not sure if anything did improve or as stated you should be able to tell straight away was my big wonder? I've been in defenders remapped and freelander1 with synergie2 and both went like s:;t of a shovel, not like mine, they said last should get around 30 bhp more with my remap Confused

Hear what u r saying, I'm not a speed freak but I know there's a bit more in this engine td4, I keep hearing how good they respond to remaps and with a promise of 30 more bhp with the map I had ( not the big grunty blue smoke remap) I was disappointed not to get in and feel a difference ,cheers for info on the upgrade u had sounds interesting and will look into Thumbs Up

I understand that although all FL2s have the same basic 2.2L engine that there are quite a few changes (ECU, injectors, turbo, inlet manifold etc) which were made during the production life of the car. So are there different remaps available or is it a one size fits all? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

A true remap is bespoke and written based on the exact car's existing map and tailored to the customer's use/desires, so it's far from one size fits all. Thumbs Up

People steal these files and then sell them on but this will never work as a map that works wonders for one car will be useless on another. Wink

In terms of proving it, I'd suggest a rolling road is avoided for auto cars; it's very difficult to get true readings from them and I've seen first hand how hard they work an automatic gearbox. Freelander 2 2007 TD4 Manual HSE Tambora Flame
