Make 12v perm live

Want to make the boot socket perm live for my 12v cool box

Just read this on RRSport, wondering if this is possible on the FL2

^^^ In my MY13 I have removed a relay from the fuse box behind glove compartment. Jumped it using a fused wire (don't know if adding the fuse was necessary but I didn't see any harm in doing that). Now the socket behind the centre console and the one in the boot are permanently live and I use a CTEK charger via the boot socket. Can't be too different (if at all) in MY11.

Totally possible - you need to cut live and pick up a permanent feed - shouldn't be hard as you're right beside rear fuse box. Find a permanent live fuse and piggy back it to your cut live on socket. remember to insulate the ignition live you cut! 2014 SE Loire Blue SD4 Auto (MY15)

I believe the older cars where a permanent live and the newer ones now are not and only remain operational for 5 minutes or so once the vehicle has been turned off. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Thumbs Up

Well if that's the case, surely in this day & age that's a step backwards considering all the electronic gear we now carry and need the access to power them.

Correct!

Just like JLR are no longer worried about command view which is what they always harped on about!

My centre console power supply shuts off approximately 5 minutes after the ignition has been switched off. I've read somewhere on here that the boot is also the same. If I am incorrect then I'm sure someone will correct me Thumbs Up MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Aye all the power sockets shut down now, which especially for a boot socket when you run things like fridges from is daft Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I really do wonder what the justification is when JLR decide to take these backward steps .... no doubt it's health & safety though. Rolling Eyes FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Nick, Only problem with the fridge scenario is if you leave it for too long and it flattens the battery. Embarassed

May be a good idea to fit a voltage drop device similar to your Backvue.

Bill, I believe my Weaco Fridge has voltage monitor built in, but if not then LRA can sort the restart out whilst I drink my semi cold beers Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

There is a relatively easy to get at high current permanent supply at the back fuse box, I have used it on this and previous FL to power a ham radio set. Will post a picture when get a min..

bought, my bits and pieces to do a live feed for the fridge, does anyone know which fuse is perm live in the boot fuse box, to save me sitting in the boot with my meter, locking and unlocking the car Laughing

I have a fridge to power, and also, be putting in a power feed to power a LED strip light with a on/off switch, using piggyback fuse, I am guessing there is no need to have a further in-line fuse? Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
