Centre Speaker Cover Removal Help

I am busy installing an integrated rear view camera into my MY13 FL2, and I have resolved most of the issues but am now stuck on something really stupid.

I just cannot get the centre speaker cover off. I have tried with a credit card, and also with those special plastic tools.

I have tried to slide the credit card in from the left towards the centre of the cover, and to lift it, but no luck.

There must be a trick to this, any suggestions ?

Thanks, I tried again last night, but no success.

I will have a go again today, with another card, the old one is mangled now.

But my speaker grid is a newer version than that in the image, I'm not sure if the hooks are in exactly the same place.

It's the same, just had it out on my MY13, be careful as the clips can drop off down into the dash! Rolling with laughter

Oh, didn't realise that the clips were a loose item ! Another pitfall Sad

Any images of the underside of the cover and / or clips ?

Do you put pressure on the clips from the front or from the side ? Any images of clips ?

Just lever up with a couple of old credit cards, it will pop out but some times the clips fly off as it is pulled out.

The clips are metal on plastic lugs, sorry no photos. Thumbs Up

Do you just pull it upwards, ie no side/front pressure on the clips required ? (as is often the case with notebooks / tablets).

Sorry for being a PITA, but this thing is defeating me. Guess I'm trying to be too careful.

Here is the underside from the facelift like yours. I bought it to replace mine as there is mark on it. I have given up for now though as it is solid and i don't want to mark the dash. Its the length of those at the back that the issue. Those front tabs also prevent any leverage. SD4 HSE Lux

Thanks for the image, that helps.

Also thanks for all the suggestions, I should be able to get it done now.

I think I was just surprised at the force required to lift the cover off, and was worried about causing damage.

Reckon credit cards are too flimsy for the force required.
You need the equivalent of a plastic chisel.

Tip, once off leave out the rear clips, I refitted mine without those clips and it's secure enough with no rattles.
If you want to use something, then blue tack is good enough.
Just makes things easier should you need to gain access again. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

Ok, I got someone to help me to get this cover off.

I think that I would be able to do it myself now, but you need the right tools and need to exercise significant force. On both front corners at the same time.

And I will be removing the clips from my speaker cover, I may need to remove the cover again.

My fully integrated reverse camera is now working 100%. It displays on the centre 7" display.

Thanks for the assistance, everyone who contributed.
