Factory Jack vs Repalcement Jack

From new I specced a spare wheel with Jack and a brace for £185. Last night arrived a second brand new genuine LR jack which cost me £50 with delivery. The reason I've opted for a replacement is that I change my alloys twice a year and it saves the hassle having to remove the spare alloy wheel and then unfasten the Jack all the time.

The factory supplied jack is made in Spain and the replacement is made in India. The Spanish jack is of far better build quality really thick paint and neat welds. The Indian jack is just a thin matt black finish with large exposed welds. It just goes to show where TATA are saving their pennies and making use of TATA Steel.

This got me thinking how can JLR supply you a brand new 19" wheel with a continental tyre and jack for £185! I wonder how much profit they make on this as surely they will not sell it a loss or at cost! To an certain extent is the money for the option already some what incorporated in the price of a new vehicle regardless if a spare wheel option is specced? MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Factory fitted options are always very much cheaper than buying them aftermarket, we used to put a 70% market up on spares bought afterwards where as fitted during build they werent much more than 5% more than cost price in many cases, all the profit was made on spares and spares packages afterwards.
