This occurred on my my13.
first visit lr reset the gearbox adaptions. No fix

2nd visit lr recalibrate the airways and pedals and sensors. No fix

3rd visit last week lr did a software update. Fixed.

...software update... so, if the car is under warranty still, do we get the software updates for free, as you do (eg) from Microsoft et al who push out software updates to fix problems. Seems that the experiences of this topic would be classed as problems and could be dangerous in the wrong situation.
So, free or chargeable from JLR? Experiences please. ...

my Software update was free of charge.

That software update on MY13 cars is for a completely different matter...
It has to do with the way the box autoselects neutral and then first gear during standing still.
