2009 HSE - Heater/Air Con Noise in operation

If there is already a thread on this topic, I would be obliged if someone would point me to it.

Otherwise:-

My Heating/Air con makes a noise above the normal air blowing function.
Possibly a bearing problem on some part of the equipment.

Can someone say if they know specifically what it will be, or what the various possibilities are, and whether a repair is possible or whether it is likely to need a full replacement.

If repair, can you recommend a place in West / North Yorkshire who can do it at best price

How do you access this?

Assistance will be appreciated, thank you.

What sort of noise?
Aircon in my last landy was very noisy, had it re-gassed and it was all quiet again, aircon guy said there was a big pocket of air going round my system

Thanks for reply

Noise is a grinding noise

Didn't used to start till been driving a good 1/2 hour but now it's from first turning on.
Noise is like a washing machine bearing when that goes but not as loud.

You can only really tell it's happening when you turn it off

By that I mean the noise is not very perceptible but when you've turned it off you know it was there.

I'm trying to do something before it seizes or blows up

Haventaclue,

there are posts on here re the noise, try a search - all helped me when this happened to mine. Noise persisted for a couple of months and gradually increased. As with yours, switched off the aircon and noise stopped, noise returned when switched back on.

The gist of the comments on here indicated a failed aircon drive/circulation pump bearing. I have a LR extended warranty so took the beast into local main dealer, convinced that the bearing had gone, and, after testing for a day, they declined to replace the pump bearing but re-gassed the system and, hey presto, all now working correctly! Trouble is, thinking the worst, I ignored a couple of the earlier posts where others had taken their vehicles in for corrective re-gassing to indys and, as a result, I ended up with a bill for £100 for a job which could/should have been half the price. Lesson:There really is wisdom on this site. Evidently my - usually excellent - local LR dealer couldn't / wouldn't justify a replacement bearing under the (expensive) extended warranty, but the job's successful so all now fine.
