DAB retrofit

I was wondering if anyone knew if DAB can be retrofitted?

Also is anyone interested in having it done if I can work out what needs to happen?

According to dealer in Thatcham (Lancaster) the DAB radio cannot be retrofitted - I would have thought it would be a simple swap out ( and lot of money) but there you go.

according to the PM i received from him, he had just done it,

it need to have the High End ICE system, and apparently the parts cost £400 he then went on to ask how much i would be willing to pay.

He's not responded/read the reply PM I sent him either

To say the upgraded radio only cost £200 on a newly ordered FL2, I think £400 just for parts is taking the Censored

Obviously it looks like this was a semi commercial post looking for business as he is asking if it was possible, only to PM back say he had done it Rolling Eyes

Obviously since he is not a site sponser if anybody does get contacted by him can you let me know, so Martin can discuss sponsership to help fund the site Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

1) HE Places thread "can you fit DAB?"
2) I respond saying not possible
3) HE PM'd me saying he has done it and it can be done for £400 and he has just done it
3) I PM him, too expensive, tell us how you did it, or contact martin re comercial post if a company
4) He has never comeback since as my PM is still in my outbox

If he contacts anybody, via PM or in the Thread its against commercial posting rules

If he was just Joe public who had done it, he would not have been asking me how much i was willing to pay for it regardless of unit cost Rolling Eyes and would have just told people it is possible and let us all do it ourselves Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Any more progress or sucess stories with retrofitting dab? My F2 has a Digital radio button; I'm assuming it needs a DAB module and either a dab aerial wired in or an FM convertor box (Splits standard FM aerial into DAB and FM - Worked well on my old Saab in conjunction with a proper Blaupunkt DAB car stereo).

Landrover CS said it can not be done but I dont believe them at all. A friend had a 2008 C Class Merc and Mercedes said DAB could not be retrofitted, a Merc electronics specalist did it for him all properly factory integrated.

I have a HSE with the digital button but no DAB and would be interested in retro fitting if possible. Approached my dealer in Aberdeen when i bought the vehicle (it was preregistered) and said it could not be done. I cannot believe it is impossible or as difficult as putting a man on the moon !

I think dab is brilliant and we have a resonable reception in our rural area.

Somebody out there must have retro fitted DAB.

Cheers Bob

Maybe someone with Microcat (lar) could look and see what missing parts there is with and without the DAB radio Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
