Rear Caliper Bolts

I can't remove the rear caliper bolts, upper or lower, they just keep turning. I can't tighten them either.

I'm pretty sure they go into a threaded slide. Quite normal for them to turn. You need to get either a thin open ended spanner that fits the nut-like slide from turning or a long-nosed set of mole grips. As you turn them, you will see the slide turning. You just need to stop that turning.

Something like this. Thumbs Up

Ah ah,
Cheers Steve!
Must admit I didn't try that. Numpty! I replaced all discs/pads last year and the bolts came straight out. The sliders were seized a bit.
Damn good pic too Thumbs Up
I'm going to inspect all the pads as I found a 2"x1" piece of pad material on my drive Shocked
Many thanks Thumbs Up Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

May I add a couple of tips.
.
The spanner you need must be slim, I have a Bosch angle grinder spanner for changing the grinding wheel, it's the correct AF size.
.
When doing a full check of the pads always scrape / knock off / file any rust crud off the yoke sliders, if you find stainless slider liners the rust builds up behind the stainless.
.
The pads must always be a slight rattle fit, if needed grind or file off any surface rust off the 'ears' edges to ensure the rattle fit.
.
Kind regards from Fred.

I found a large piece of brake pad material on my drive a few days ago.
Took the brake callipers off Mrs Pegleg's Focus and all was fine.
Removed the rears from my FL2, they were fine too.
But the nearside front had 80% of the pad material missing Shocked
The remaining 20% pad material is 9mm thick. Not much wear.
New pads tomorrow Thumbs Up

Just a bit worrying though; if I hadn't had found bits of the pad in my drive I'd have driven round oblivious......... Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
