Freelander 2 2014 - Is it poss to add SatNav & Reversing

Hi!

Just bought a FL2 (chuffed) but have a VERY basic Tech Pack...

Wanted to get SatNav and Reverse Parking Camera installed.

Does anyone know if Land Rover do this type of upgrade in house or should I go to a 'Pimp My Ride' kind of specialist? Ive heard mixed reviews about the SatNav system LR provide so would be looking for best option?

Any help is much appreciated!

Cheers.

Ignore all the threads on here about retro-fitting satnavs to the hole in the dash, because yours hasn't got the appropriate hole. Problem is that your screen shows important info about the car, so if you replace it you will lose that.
You probably need a very special specialist, and even then it would be easier to add a separate screen somewhere.
Someone may have done it - do a thorough search on the site, bearing in mind that only threads relating to MY13 and later will apply.
I would be very surprised if Land Rover do a kit for this. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

Ok will do. Did have a look but obviously wasn't thorough enough.

Appreciate the feedback!

I have spoken to a custom specialist near where I live who says he can do this but I wasn't aware of the Car Info which appears via the screen which is already in place.

Also waiting to hear back from Land Rover Direct to see if they have any recommendations.

Not sure what you get on your screen (mine has sat nav) but I thought the basic screen did more than just the radio? Have a look through the handbook, 'cause I may be wrong. If the specialist says he can do it then I'd go along with that, but have him spell out exactly what he will do and ask whether you will lose any functionality as a result. Tbh, fitting a non-Land Rover satnav will give you better functionality (such as speed limit display, regular upgrades) which you don't get from LR.
Please keep us posted with your results, as there will be increasing numbers on here wanting to try this mod. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

I havent had anything actually fitted yet but I have spoken to a custom fitter (http://prestige-installs.co.uk/prestashop/) located near me and they have provided me with the following quote breakdown...

Freelander Facia Cage £45
Freelander Harness Parking Retention £100
Freelander Aerial Adapter £10
Double Din Stereo Fit £55
Freelander Rear view Camera £50
Camera Fit £50
Head Unit (I am currently weighing up between a Alpine INE-W970BT £595 or an Alpine INE-W977BT £879.85)

So depending on Head Unit extravagance you can get this done for between £905 and £1200.

Hoping to get this done in the next couple of weeks so will try to provide an update with pics once it is completed.
