Should be fine just to remove it - you may have settings to change re global locking / windows but they're not a problem, all the answers are here already

Just a thought and it might not be the same on an FL2, but on an FL1 you were warned to remove the key from the car when you refitted the battery as all the doors would lock. I learned this the hard way and luckily the spare key was to hand. |

Thanks everyone for your responses. Seems like it may not have been such a silly question then

IMO you won't damage the vehicle by charging the battery in situ, but I believe there's a lot of people who wouldn't want to do that. There may be residual load on the battery in the car and so take longer to charge but it would be ok I think.

Thanks both.
I read this with great interest - I was recently having a "Transmission Fault" error at strange times and other posts seemed to suggest the battery may be at fault. Therefore I was thinking of doing this mod. I notice from the other thread that the official LR fix (on newer models) is to add the strap to the body of the vehicle. |

When LRA changed my battery, the Fob was stuck in the Dock, it wasn't till the new battery was fitted that there was enough power to release the Fob. He also plugged in his Laptop, had to log the fact that it had Heated Seats is one thing I remember. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |

When I replaced my battery last year all I had to do was reset the clock and windows. Granted mine is a S model so very few electrics on it, but once I reset the clock and windows there car was fine. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

a friend has a garage workshop near me and replaced the battery in swmbo,s insignia s/tourer last year,he connected a set of long jump leads to the battery connections in the car then the other end onto the new battery outside the car, undid earth/poss on batt in car, lifted out old batt, then lifted in the new batt(still connected to car)fitted the connectors to the batt posts, undid the jump lead cables and all was well, nothing to reset as car was connected to a batt supply all the time. |
