Solar eclipse

Friday 20th of March there will be an eclipse, though not total for us. The further north you are, the greater the eclipse. Here in Derbyshire it will be approx 88%.

Perhaps the photo pro's such as Nick and Paul can advise on the best settings and methods to get some decent photographs? I only have a bridge camera so not the all singing all dancing DSLR but if anyone can advise on the best method then I'd appreciate it.

Cheers Thumbs Up

Somewhat cloudy here but it helped get some decent photos as it took the edge off the brightness. Will upload tonight when home. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

And on the Dorset coast I hardly noticed anything. Just a cloudy day. Eclipses are not what they used to be (in 1999 it was total) 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Nice work there Paul Thumbs Up

My photos are just run of the mill but taken with 42x zoom so decent enough. Trouble is I've left my camera at work Rolling Eyes

I'll call in and pick it up tomorrow then sort the pics out tomorrow afternoon. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

That was taken with a 10 stop filter on the front of the lens, have used welding glass in the last but the colours come out funny.
Quite pleased with how this has come out Thumbs Up

Much better than the ones which are all black with a white crescent

I got several photos as it went through the phases but didn't use any special lenses or filters, just pointed the camera and took the photo. I did read beforehand that sunlight can damage the sensor in the camera but once the cloud cover arrived and significantly reduced the brightness, I gambled and all seems well. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

This is one I got, you'll have to forgive the filter brand in the corner I had it badly placed
