H&S, Rolling Eyes I think you will be fine with a bottle of 2T, I haven't heard of it spontaneously combusting, you are quite correct though.

Solution here

2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black

Reading this thread with interest.
As a newbie to diesel engines, my newly acquired 2011 TD4 has 55000 on clock. I have no idea what the previous owner ran it on but from what the local LR dealer told me who serviced it from new, they never had any trouble with it since they sold it new and I have the service sheets.
So, will I be wasting my time putting in Tso or any additive at this point in the engines lifetime, apart from potential quieter running .. or will the potential benefits take effect regardless?

Always a good thing to add it. Better lubrication and MPG and it'll help keep your injectors clean. Thumbs Up Freelander 2 2007 TD4 Manual HSE Tambora Flame

Never too late.

I have posted earlier about my car's MOT exhaust figures and the significant reduction in them from one year to the next. nothing earth shattering in itself perhaps but a very clear indicator, for me at least, that things were being kept clean and working efficiently. The engine definitely clatters less though I don't think I get any increase in MPG (30 - 32 mpg over a mixed bag of a lot of short journeys and some motorway at 70mph). The car has now done around 45k

I buy in bulk online - Amazon last time - and decant into a 300 ml drink bottle that I have labelled with a skull & crossbones and "Poison, 2 Stroke Oil". I also keep it in the spare wheel well, poisonous stuff in drink bottles always a bit of a worry!

taking the plunge

will run as a test for the next couple of fills 0.3ltr per tank of semi JASO-FC

Might even use a DB meter to see if it is quieter when cold.

for those of us that are following this thread, I have added a Survey
Which may prove useful for people like me looking to take the plunge and start using 2 Stroke oil

http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic22434.html

This thread is fantastic, but if you just want to get a quick snapshot of what peoples
experiences with 2 stroke oil are - well you could spend weeks reading :thumb-sup:

Not using it...tested in several diesel engines over the years and found no difference in noise or economy so don't see any point in trying it again.

Use it only when filling with supermarket fuel which is seldom. 200ml to tankful.
Normally fill with Shell or BP standard grade. Closest station selling BP Supreme is 30 miles away and if passing on longer journey I give FL a treat.
I do not use it expecting noise reduction or better MPG, it is for its lubricating properties. I have seen many pumps with bearing failure.
Official Ford test when pump was suspect: empty fuel filter into clear fine glass beaker and stand overnight on top of powerful speaker magnet. Lots of fine metallic particles on base indicated disaster. New pump, fuel pipes and tank out for cleaning. Fortunately most under warranty. 10 years retired. All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.

Can this be made sticky or eventually mixed with the original 2SO topic?
In this way the users will have all in one place/topic.
