For the first time since buying my first new car I took my FL2 to my local mechanic. Paid £180 in total.Did make me wonder why I would pay dealer prices though |

Won't you have problems with any warranty claim if not serviced by a LR dealer? Stornaway grey SE auto with 18" alloys |

Provided you have it serviced in accordance with LR service instructions then you can take it to any garage you like without invalidating the warranty. |

Would that mean keeping the receipts for any parts used by the garage.Would they show you their invoices to prove they had bought genuine parts.Would the garage have a copy of the LR service schedule?I bet now that things are getting very tight LR will be trying to get out of expensive warranty work and saving £30 on a service is very risky. Does your local dealer charge £330 then for the first service? That is a rip off! Team valley at Gateshead do it for £228 includind courtesy car and insurance. That is only £48 more than you paid. What about any updates from LR or warranty work that may need doing?I am not convinced it is worth the risk. What if a fault code was showing and they could not access it, and you kept driving the vehicle not knowing that you could be doing damage to the engine or drivetrain! Had my first service done in July this year and it was £372 inc + £24 for fixing a puncture that I didn't know I had!

Team Valley are an authorised LR service center but not a main dealer. They are fully accredited by LR and you get LR service stamps in your logbook, as well as them having all the official LR diagnostic kit etc.

The garage I use would have told me if anything was amiss. Prices for the service did vary slightly from the main dealers but the cheepest was £350.00 and to make a substantial saving when I am assured there is no problem I do not see it as a risk. I may change my mind if I have a breakdown but I will cross that bridge when I come to it. This car has not had half of the niggles my last one had but my last freelander didn't have half the major problems that I had initially with this one. |
