Through experience of LR's going wrong just outside their normal warranty period I have purchased LR Extended Warranty. In two years this will have cost me around £1700. All paper work is Landrover Headed and seems all above board.

I'm no expert on these matters but that seems reasonable to me. If you contracted to a two-year insurance policy, that's what you get. It doesn't matter that you are paying in monthly instalments. May have been different if you hadn't made a claim but they've got to get their money back otherwise they would be out if business. What's to stop someone taking out a similar policy, paying monthly, claiming in the first month, then cancelling the policy? Perhaps one way out would have been to sell/transfer the remainder of the policy to the new owner. |

As above, you've taken out a contract. We had the same years ago with insurance, paying it monthly, eight months in we sold the vehicle, could not cancel the insurance as such, we still had to complete the payments. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |

I agree with Steve, you took out the insurance and was quoted a price which you accepted.

Thanks. I can understand your point but what I am trying to bring to others attention is that at the time of the sale of the warranty it was explained that these were Landrover Warranties which everything pointed to but were infact warranties by a third party company. Even if I hadn't made a claim they would want paying.

I can't really add much to what has already been said. One thing I will say is that somewhere in the small print it will mention about having to complete the payments and once you sign an agreement you are bound by such terms even if you haven't actually read them.

I know you feel aggrieved Mr bee but if you had paid the £1700 in advance you wouldn't be looking for a refund would you. Paying it monthly is just an interest free loan. Do it now ! Your a long time dead !! |

When I traded the last FR2 in half way through the warranty year I phoned the warranty people and they said that as I hadn't claimed during that year they wouldn't chase me for the rest of the payments. Which I thought was pretty fair of them.

We bought two FL2s with 2yr extended warranties last spring and paid £290 for each car. The 1st year was part of the "approved LR" scheme and the second year was supposed to be £790 but they knocked £500 off as part of the deal. I was told that it was transferable to a new owner with an admin fee of £40. |
