Re-trimmed Leather steering wheel

Thanks to RonP 's post, I've just had my steering wheel retrimmed in leather by a company called Royal Steering Wheel, based in Aylesbury. They offer an exchange basis which means the vehicle is not off the road. They also provide a fitting service for locals, at £15 its a bargain.
To say I am thrilled with the result is an understatement. It really transforms the grip and feel.
The cost is £125.
If anyone wants further details let me know.

I've considered one of these for my clio sport but the other people on the clio forum have given mixed reviews, not on quality which is exceptional but some say they are slightly too thick, how does it feel on the freelander?

Hi,
It is thicker - thats because i wanted it thicker, and with thumb grips. Its also got perforated leather where your hands rest. You can specify whether you want additional padding or not. I always felt that the standard FL2 wheel was far too skinny and now it feels quality. But at the end of day its personal choice. The quality this company produce is not in question.

Looks nice Thumbs Up tempted to get mine done in ebony/pimento to match the seats and door cards but not sure how it would affect my heated wheel/any warranty claim if it stopped working Whistle MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Pick up the phone and talk to Jack direct.
I'm sure he'll give you a decent honest answer.

You can spec the wheel exactly how you want it eg thickness, thumb grips, perforated leather, coloured leather, coloured stitching etc.

If you get it done you certainly won't be disappointed.

Thumbs Up

Thinking about having my steering wheel refurbished, but was told by a local upholsterer that it's a waste of money.According to him,the leather on the steering wheel will wear to a shine just as the current one.Has anyone had any problems with this?
I am keen to go the same route as other forum members, that is,to by an exchange steering wheel.

The leather does get shiny over time. Some of our LRs are like this but it has taken a decade for the leather to get a shine. Having said that plastic wheels are much worse when faded! Leather is still leather and nicer to touch. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior
