Just had word from garage. Mine wasn't tyre noise or diff or bearing. It was the transfer box. Thankfully getting replaced under extended warranty!

Did changinging transfer box cure your whining noise please?

From the manual.

I dont have any unusual noises from mine, and had 4 new Grabber AT fitted in January.

Cat never been out of normal mode for me.

Transfer box cured the noise. Mine was only there between 45-55mph. Quiet as a mouse now. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

Had the rear diff noise at 50k miles. Dealer replaced transfer box and did diff repair then all quiet for a week then went noisy again. Dealer then replaced rear wheel bearing. All quiet again but just noticed that I seem to have a diff oil leak which is to be investigated. Shocked 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Responding to an earlier post in this thread:

I had the low level rear diff repair done on my 2010MY GS at about 34k.

This is what it sounded like before:

The whine starts at about 40mph after a few seconds

Took the car in for a service today and mentioned that the rear diff is leaking oil. low level repair done about a month ago. I was expecting them to say that it was an oil seal failure but evidently they had put too much oil in the diff when the pinion bearing was done and it was coming out of the breather. Diff is supposed to have 700mls of oil but they usually put a bit more in and must have overdone it. Confused 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

The rear diff uses the filler plug hole as a level indicator, so they fill the diff until a thin bead trickles out of the filler hole. Not sure how you would overfill unless you pumped the oil in really quickly then put the plug back in as soon as you could, be a bit messy though Question
