7k, so you will be looking pre MY11, iirc Terrain Response became standard on the S Model from then on. Maybe MY10

My first FL2 was an "S". Basically, with S spec vs GS, you get smaller alloys, no front fog lights, no terrain response and no bluetooth telephone integration. The only thing I really missed was the bluetooth but there are after market products to cure that problem. I would tread carefully with that budget and probably opt for a newer S spec as they are still very good cars. I don't think there is going to be much of a drop in prices in the near future. I have a mate in the trade who says there is an oversupply of high mileage FL2's at the moment though so they are proving hard to shift unless priced keenly. Haggle hard or perhaps take your chances buying privately? |

My son has had a couple of S specs and now a has GS. He reckons that the standard terrain response on the S is more than adequate for his work which involves a lot of motorway and farm work and the terrain settings on the GS are effectively cosmetic. The tyres on the S are usually on 16" wheels and tyre dealers had problems since there is not a wide selection of 4x4 tyres. He was even told that the ones fitted originally when he bought it were Transit van tyres (legacy of the Ford ownership of JLR) so watch out for that. |

I've got a 07 plate Se Td4, what's the equivalent now? We're looking at getting a new model in February and we want the same specs. |

Thanks for the great advice guys! I think I might look at the 10 plates that are S spec rather than an older GS.

I found that I could get a S for the same price as an older higher spec fl2. While I miss cruise, radio controls, spare wheel and heated screen, I accept that as the cost of 3 years newer car.

Cam belt change at 150k miles. We ran an S to 100k miles with no problems. The following two FL2s we owned both had numerous problems by 40k inc manual gearbox needing to be rebuilt. Engines seem pretty solid though, the common issues are usually transmission and electronics related. |
