United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame
HDC

Hi, I put the terrain response into mud and ruts today and the HDC green car flashes on the dash, when I press the HDC button by the gear stick the green car goes off. Is this normal as I can't find anything in the manual to this affect? I was stationary when I made the selection with the handbrake on. Thanks.

Yes. Put it in gear and it should light constantly. 2011 SD4 HSE Auto

Ok thanks, but I thought it was only for hill descent and don't know why it comes on when mud and ruts are selected?

HDC is swtiched on by default whenever Mud and Ruts program is selected. Mud Ruts is the only special program which turns on HDC in all other programs is needs to be turned on manually.

Automatically selected for that program. Can be deselected if not wanted, though if you need MR I'd leave HDC on. Check out Terrain Response section of manual (it's page 76 in my manual but not sure about yours - should be somewhere near that). 2011 SD4 HSE Auto

Thanks Dorset, interesting comments on that thread. I don't think that the automation of the HDC will be a problem for me, but it is strange that it does come on when M&R are selected.

If your driving in mud and ruts the chances are your doing a slow speed and off road the HDC is there to help so automatically comes on

If you go over a certain speed it will turn off anyway

It's all in the manual Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
