United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey
A little bit of model news.

Apologies if some you already know, but a little info.

By summer next year the whole trim range of Discovery Sport models will be on the market, and the DS range will then start from £27k. Which brings it into line with the competition.

The new ingenium petrol engine has yet to be confirmed for the UK market at all.

Also there is 100% going to be another Discovery model to sit under the DS and be a competitor to the Audi Q3!

So good news all round! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

Mav where did you get this information from? It sounds great news. I like the better starting price. I'm thinking of changing next year, I don't know whether to wait for a DS or buy a newer FL2 to keep for a few years more. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Sources from JLR. I only put info on here that is not shall we say secret. There is a lot of stuff I have been told which I for sure would not put on here unless I get the nod it's fine to do so.

One other thing, although the press has stated that the Freelander name may be used again, I can for sure say that the Freelander name is dead and buried forever. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. So if the new trims are going to be available next summer then I wonder when the announcements will be made and prices issued? Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Not sure, but the car I saw this week was actually a 2016MY with the petrol ingenium engine but this engine for production on DS is not confirmed. The diesel ingenium is slated for production towards the back end of 2015, but this could be delayed.

The expected success of the XE may delay DS getting the new Diesel engine. But by all accounts, the latest version of the current 2.2 diesel is significantly more refined than the version in the Freelander 2. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Mav have your friends said anything about the seating situation? I personally don't need 7 seats, any news on the 5 seat version? When my local dealer gets one in I will pop down and have a look at one.

Thanks Mav for the previous info. Thumbs Up Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

I don't see why people are getting their knickers in a twist about the DS being 7 seats. It's a standard feature. Unless you pull up the 6/7 seats, it's just a 5 seater anyway.

I would imagine if they did offer a 5 seat version, it will be the low end models. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I'm in the five set camp, why carry extra sets that I won't need. It has been said that the spare wheel was dropped to get the weights and emissions down, yet we are to get two extra seats to carry around which weigh far more than a spare wheel.

Where I work a director has got a new RRS. To me it looks a tight squeeze to get in the back seats. I don't know if I would use all 7 seats in a DS. But if there was an option to get a 5 seat DS I would go for that over 7 seats. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

I used to have a 7 seater Ford Galaxy as a company car. We are a family of 5 and discovered that it was necessary to remove two seats so that you could get some luggage in the car. If you want to transport 7 people you need a trailer too. Cool

I suppose that if the UK is not to get the 5 seat, then removing the seat but keeping the boot floor backing will still leave room for the full size spare and the higher rear axle loading. I'm sure there will be a few aftermarket manufacturers providing conversion kits with underfloor stowage bins. There's always some one who will supply bits LR thought we shouldn't have Smile my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Agree with the parts, are you aware that you won't be able to legally have the different axle load? Now:

maybe

That may be true Dartman, but hardly much comfort for someone who has paid £32,000 or a lot more, and then to have to buy a conversion kit from a 3rd party supplier and throw away some unwanted expensive seats, just to get a model most other markets will get as a standard model!

I can see no logic in LR not providing a 5 seater option in the UK, once they announce their range more completely. Life is not a dress rehearsal!
