United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Bali Blue

another issue with 7 seats is the seat belts for the rearmost seats - i can see them getting in the way when trying to put huge loads in the boot.

I'm in the 5 seater camp - ditch the third row of seats and put a false floor in for oddments etc - i have this in my X3 and cannot believe how i lived without it in the FL2 - great for odds and sods and storing things that would otherwise roll around in the boot! Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

5 seats for me too. It's amazing what one can pack in around the spare wheel in a Freelander's boot - I have everything from tow ropes and bungee cords to de-icer, spare bulbs and a folding snow shovel packed into my spare wheel well, in addition to a full-size spare! I wouldn't want that lot rattling around in the boot itself.

Plus, seats aren't cheap, and I don't want to have to pay for 2 I'll never use.

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Santorini Black

I'm so appalled at the way the DS is being launched as a "replacement" for the FL2 and the lack of choice regarding features I don't want / need that I'll be looking at alternatives when the time comes to renew my car next year.

A reasonably modestly specced FL2 fitted my lifestyle perfectly when I bought it in 2011. And an equivalent still does. I don't need the extra seats, an engine that will likely be replaced by a superior unit within 12 months or a £35,000 price tag. And I DO want somewhere I can keep a full size spare tyre onboard.

So, unless something happens reasonably soon my first Land Rover will probably be my last. The map is not the territory

Well it is the replacement for the Freelander 2, so everyone must get used to it.

All this talk of being 'appalled' and that Land Rover haven't got a clue etc. Get real for gods sake! Things move on! Give LR a chance to get the whole range out.

Having seen about 20 Disco Sports today and driven a DS HSE, it absolutely knocks socks off the Freelander in I would say, every way!

I love my Freelander, but having just driven my 13MY HSE Lux just a few hours after driving a DS HSE, my Freelander all of a sudden feels dated and old!

Does this mean I have gone off my Freelander? No of course not but hats off to LR for taking the Freelander, and taking all its good points and creating a car that's even better.

I Agree with Shilen that his X3 has a better build/feel to the interior than the Freelander 2, but the DS answers this with a big step up in feel/quality/technology. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. I'm pleased that the DS HSE is a good drive, I've ordered an HSE. Not many people have had a chance to drive it yet.

I'll second the feel and quality of the DS, that was one thing I noticed at the preview event it did feel solid. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I forgot to add, you would'nt think it is the same engine as the FL2, the latest generation of the 2.2 engine is a lot smoother and quieter! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I'm definitely tempted by one. I'll probably keep my FL2 another year then see what there is on the market. I think I'll go to the dealer when they first come out and have a test drive.

Yep, a couple of little things.

I don't like how they have gone back to the brushed aluminium dash trim on some models like they did on early Freelander 2's, and I am not over keen on the design of the steering wheel.

I think Piano black trim would look good, but am yet to see one with PB. Other than that LR have done an outstanding job of it.

The 9 Speed Auto is also very good, and doesn't seem to hunt for gears like the 8 Speed in the 2.2 Jag XF. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

I personally don't like the design of the rear lights. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I'll give you that they do look better in the flesh and when lit.

There ain't much I don't like on it, I was originally going for SE but after the preview night and playing with HSE/Lux all night I changed my order.

I'm still unsure about colour at the moment the favourite is Firenze Red. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

.... erm, not really. I believe we each still have the freedom to choose something else.

gDallask,

At what point did I say that people didn't have a choice? Everyone has a choice to do what they please.

Wasn't the "freedom to choose comment" just a little play on the Landwind "Evoque" referred to in the url? Very Happy
