Removing suspected tree sap from paintwork?

Anyone know of the least intrusive way to remove what I can only suspect is tree sap off the bodywork?

Tried obviously washing it, using car shampoo and steam but to no avail. The specific sap removal spray didn't touch it either.

Thanks in advance

Claying the car has removed small spots of sap from mine in the past. I've also heard that turpentine is good for removing sap - must be real turps, not substitute - apparently it's produced from some tree product or other and is therefore a natural solvent for sap. Not tried it myself though.

i parked under a tree for 2 weeks and the sap was very bad

i used a hot bucket and strong shampoo to remove mine, no hassle at all,

it sounds like the fact i had only just sealed the paintwork might have been a life saver though Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

It depends how long it's been there too - sap hardens over time, so fresh sap is easy to remove, sap which has had time to harden much less so.

the sap was there for over 2 week, as it appeared on day one and i was onsite for 2 weeks, then it was the following weekend when i set too cleaning it

might be a different tree sap, with different characteristics Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I have heard (but not tried it) that WD40 is excellent at removing sap and tar. For the latter, I use Autoglym Tar Remover, but would be interested to see if anyone has any success with aforementioned WD40 on tree sap. Foraging near Gaydon....
