Why do dealers spout such utter nonsense Banging Head

The ingeium engine not powerful enough, how do they know this, they don't, it is sales person talk to tempt you into the car now, they will be hearing that many existing owners, probably other prospects too, are talking of waiting until the new engine arrives, so they create stories to get sales now.

Yes Taz, that's what I thought .... 'buy now don't wait"!

And a modern 2 litre turbo diesel is perfectly capable of outputs far higher than the existing 2.2l engine. Just look at Volvo ..... 225bhp and lots of torque for the new XC90.

This is a state-of-the-art engine, featuring many tech firsts for Jaguar and Land Rover.

It is lightweight, JLR promising a weigh saving of 80kg over the Ford units it replaces. It will be offered in both single- and sequential twin-turbocharged forms, allowing the company to offer different power outputs (and price points). At work

How much power & torque do you need in DS? Dw12 2.2 l diesel 150 & 190 ps with 420Nm max torque, new Ingenium engine as fitted to XE 163ps 380Nm & 180ps with 430Nm , so new engines will be at least as powerful as outgoing engine with better fuel economy, dealers clearly havent a clue what they are saying.

If its all about aerodynamics how comes it has taken so long then given the Sierra was launched in 1982, some 33 years ago? That was revolutionary regarding aerodynamics. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

If I was interested in aerodynamics and fuel economy I would have bought a Prius.

I couldn't give a toss if I get a few more MPG, I just want a quality marque, high riding, chunky family car that has 4WD and can handle the UK variances in weather and the occasional green lane / wooded track.

Seen a DS through the showroom window and will drive one next weekend out of curiosity, but initial thoughts are it isn't for me which is a shame because I don't know where to go next Confused _________________

My mileage isn’t high these days and having run Saabs with turbo petrol engines for many years I’d like to leave diesel behind. Also new diesel regs may make petrol more attractive in coming years?

Anyone of like mind re petrol power?

Yep, would be interested in petrol power. But overall not interested in the ingenium engine, it will be the same overstated fuel economy figures. Stick to what I know.

I just think some are being picky with the DS, Criticism for having an EPB, no TR knob. Come on

Plus reduced ground clearance due to the revised rear suspension, and a rip-off approach to pricing and specifications.

Dealers are talking absolute rubbish with regards to the Ingenium engines.. The new diesel engine will be the only diesel available in the DS with various power outputs.

Although there are a few petrol DS's doing the rounds at the moment on the press/launch fleet, it has not been decided if petrol will be offered in the DS in the UK.

The current contract with PSA for the current 2.2 finishes at some point in 2015, so they have to change to the new engine. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

When I went on the DS builder today there was the option to specify the Si4 Petrol engine. Dealer I spoke to recons both engines would be sold, the present producing the 190BHP & the ingenium doing the more economic 150BHP. Can't see that myself, why would you have 2 diesels?
No prices for anything though on builder. I rang a dealer just out of interest to see how much the equivalent spec Discovery Sport HSE Luxury would cost to match as close as possible a FL2 Metropolis.
Whilst it would include some options that weren't available on the Freelander (TV, heated rear seats, bonnet airbags to name 3) it came out at £45,500 & I have just remembered the panoramic roof is an option so I dare say that's another £1000.
I feel quite happy now I drove my Metropolis away for £34,000 precisely including roof rails, boot mat & all round mudflaps.

That said the Discovery Sport IMO from the rear looks better than the Range Rover Sport as the lower bumper diffuser on the RRS looks like a sticking plaster wheras the DS looks just right. Nice Landrover car but Range Rover pricing. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Thanks for the info Mav.

According to Whatcar 'Volvo UK has added the petrol-powered T6 variant of its new XC90 to the model range. Since orders for the seven-seat SUV opened in October, Volvo UK has been surprised by the number of customer enquiries for petrol-powered versions. The T6 is equipped with a 316bhp, 295lb ft version of the new 2.0-litre, four-cylinder Drive-E engine...'

That should push it along at a respectable pace!

I hope LR follows suit (not necessarily at that high power level) because if the XC90 gets the petrol engine no doubt the XC60 will get an adequately powerful petrol engine in the not too distant future?
