Thanks - is that because the 'approved' warranty is much better? |

The breakdown cover would clinch it for me. If you have Landrover Assist you get a dedicated technician who understands the car and has all the right hardware to access, update, etc.

tell that to LR Chesterfield who swore blind that they had done the 165 point approved check on my Evoque... but failed to notice that it needed a service (advised on test drive) needed an MOT as only 3 months remained (advised on test drive) and that it had been in quite a serious accident involving bad resprays and still visible damage underneath. Needed close to £7000 of warranty work within 6 months and still wasn't right. They then took advantage of my stress and sold me a replacement FL2 with an expired MOT (which I advised them of on test drive). not all dealers are as scrupulous as others or as diligent. But if it wasn't for LR Assist (who were outstanding!) and LR Doncaster who also brilliant I would have never touched another LR product again. |

Rog I read the above last night and predicted a few words coming from you. I still find it hard to believe a full blown dealer could have done that. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Did you ever get the feeling that LR prices reflect their "target" owner, rather than the actual cost price of an item?

I have recently started thinking about my FL2 replacement and I have been researching the DS. There seems to be a few issues, the main ones being:

I can only speak for the 2017 version ignium engine auto. I have heard about the early cars creaking B pillar - mines quiet as a lamb, so maybe only the early ones were affected, got to remember people were paying £40k+ for these cars, so the slightest fault would be massively annoying. with the ignium engine LR promised 21K mile servicing, it's a lie, 10k if you do regular motorway driving, more like 6k if you do a normal amount of town work. The issue is diesel injection in the exhaust stroke (every 250 miles) to burn off the soot in the emissions kit fitted to the exhaust. The older 2.2 engines do not suffer from this. The ignium engine does suit the 9 speed auto -mines been fine since I had it -25k miles, TEST DRIVE a 2.2 auto before you buy, as it might not suit the 9 speed auto. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner |

Whilst searching for diesel problems with the DS I came across this thread on Mumsnet of all places. Neatly sums up the problem with Euro 6 diesels SUVs and JLRs advice. No mention of the balance shaft wear issues.

It was a key selling point for many a decade with Land Rover. Unfortunately, egotistical maniacs in design have decided that this harks back to the "old" way of doing things, and we must now need to feel as close to the ground as possible.....you know.....like downtrodden....which we are daily under the current regime. Vote Farage! MY13 HSE Lux.......faultless since new. |

Surely the DS is only about 17mm lower roof height than the FL2? Not sure about the actual H Point which is the one that makes the eyeline difference, but it cannot be that much. Regards
