Funny how its always a round number like 100 years, shouldn't it be the coldest winter for 101 years this year?

Madden aside, there are computer models and data, being interpreted by people who take this stuff seriously, that are giving indications we could be in for a especially cold one this year.

I follow two or three weather people on twitter. They are saying long term it looks a cold winter. But then again, Metjef on twitter today said that one of his computer models is showing a heat wave on Christmas Day!! It's way too early to predict anything yet but I'm hoping for some snow this year! Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Yes they are only indicators at the moment, only forecasts given are for slightly cooler than average at the moment, people won't start nailing their colours to the mast until the end of the month and even then....

The latest round of long range forecast models are now saying relentless mild temps, wind and rain just like last winter. In summary, if you want snow or even just frost, forget it!

Or move up here - even with last year's mild winter there were a couple of days when even an FL2 on winter tyres couldn't make it up the (very steep) access from my place to the main road. (Last year's experience suggests that with 3-4" of snow on the ground the slope is no problem, but when it gets to a foot forget it!)

Perhaps the spike spider system that LR sell for the FL2 would have helped get you through LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Heard some shuffling in the loft last night and sure enough found the first two mice of the season populating the loft traps this morning, so little critters are prepping for winter at least, despite a possible 20 degrees being forecast for tomorrow.

Some of the twitter weather people are saying we are going to get a very cold snap around the 4th of November. Interesting to see if it happens. Likes of Winterexpert and Metjef are saying it could be similar to the 2009/10 winter! But then of course the weather could do anything!! Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

http://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/52864...s-forecast

The Express are at it again, quoting James Madden who is really accurate with his forecasts Whistle Rolling Eyes

We are now into late October and very mild temps are firmly in charge. Here is what that idiot Madden said in an article published by The Express on 10/10/14:

“Over the coming weeks and into November, it is likely to turn progressively colder, even very cold at times, in particular, in parts of the north as northern blocking becomes a somewhat more prominent feature.

“This is likely to bring some significant snow across higher ground within this period.

“This may also bring the first snow event of the season to some much lower levels of the country, in particular, in some parts to the north and east of the country, but these wintry weather events may also not necessarily be restricted to just these parts, and some much lower levels of the country could also experience their first taste of wintry weather for the season in terms of overnight snow or developing wintry showers. As the colder weather begins to take more of a stronghold throughout the latter part of October and into November, widespread frosts and dense fog patches will also become a quite prominent feature for many.”

What a complete and utter retard that man is and already proved wrong. If I saw him, I might actually punch him Laughing

P.S, if we actually get a properly cold winter with prolonged cold and snow (not just passing flurries that melt quickly), I will donate £20 to this forum. I am very confident I will not be parting with my money however. Average to mild winter is my prediction. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Winter does seem to get later, or at least the cold weather dors, winter of course starts at the same time each year.
It's a long time until February/March when a real cold snap could happen.

Doc, you need a Freelander, we had proper winters until you swapped Laughing

This is true. I cursed it! Laughing Last winter was simply relentless mild so we would have to go some to be milder than that. Very heavy rain all winter too and floods LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby
