Sites within short distance of pub/restaurants

Anyone know good sites that are within a couple of hours from leeds

Looking at having a long weekend away without kids, so wanting good food and drink within a short distance so we can both have drink without the worry of the getting back

Thinking maybe the lakes or dales, caravan site or CL

Cheers though Thumbs Up

Still looking at options, as much as I like the Grassington area, I'm wondering what taxis would be like, about 10 mins drive to the angel at Hetton, but I can't see taxis been that available in the remote areas, and I'd have to wait ages to get them up from skip ton or something Confused

So still open to option for fine dining and local sites Very Happy Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

When I asked about taxis (back to the Coniston Hotel) was told there would be about a 10-20 min wait, so would just need booking before dessert, or coffee etc.

In the end I drove, so can't tell you what the wait actually was.

Having eaten at the Durham Ox in Crayke, I can heartily recommend it, but no idea about local caravan sites. Also ate at the Black Swan, which was very nice.

If you're a foodie then perhaps L'Enclume in Cartmel, but don't know if that's too far, or too expensive. They also have rooms, some at reasonable prices, if you wanted to leave the caravan behind.

Thats good to know, 10-20 minute wait isn't too bad when you time it right Thumbs Up

I was going to go away and have a couple of nights in a hotel, but that was looking at £550

so i got thinking long weekend, £60 or something for site fees, leaving £400+ for a couple or so good meals, might get out walking and photographing so now looking at long weekend away with just me the misses and a cake with 40 candles on it

cheers for the link Philz thats a good start to finding something Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Scotland 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Fuji White

There is a caravan club site on your doorstep - York

This is a fabulous site, park up, and walk into York - less than 5 min walk

Plenty for the kids to do in and around York, have a look at the pub on the river, very good... But does get flooded in the winter as you can see the water level marks on the pub wall.

Still, a great place to visit - York is one of my best sites to visit in Uk and is on par with Chester Fair Oaks

Happy camping me Lord! 'There is thunder' then 'There is the warble of a V8'

SD4 HSE Fuji White (my car): sidesteps, door protection
Golf 2.0 tdi White (wife's car)
Triumph Stag (my 1975 V8 toy - 37,600 miles... Just started its 2nd restoration... had it since 1986)

Tiguan Summit (gone, but nice car)
Porsche Boxster (gone, it was too fast)
SLK (gone, did not like it - lost loads £s)
Discovery Cairngorm (gone,very tractor like)
+ loads of other cars
