Australia 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Santorini Black
Prorack Whispbar

Hi all

I recently purchased some Prorack Whispbars for my Freelander 2 and I had the same issue with the fitting clips in the door. Luckily I live around the corner from the Australian head office. I spoke to the design team about the issues and they have installed them to my car without clips, they actually screw down into holes already fitted under the rail easily covered with plugs. The added benifit of this is this also increases the carrying load to 75kg as well as not damaging the door or bodywork. They are the most stramline low profile racks I could find check them out www.whispbar.com.au

They are in the process of making the kit up and should have it ready in the next month or so, I have asked him to let me know so I can notify those interested. For the people who already have the bars you don't need to buy new ones it is just a foot that clips on the bottom.

Awesome! I'm going to need some roof rails for our holiday soon as we have just got a dog who will be taking up most if the boot and I really don't like the oem rails.

So when do they think this kit will be available? What is the alternative door clamp like and what are the parts I would need?

Sorry complete noob when it comes to roof racks - just 6 months ago I would not have been seen dead in a car with them on. Funny how things change !! Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

the fitting kit to clip onto the doors is called K455 if you take your time to install it 99% fits but i think it is only a 60kg load rating.

So are there any particular rails that I need or are they generic?

I will look at the web site when I get to the computer - in the mean time I am going to continue to abuse the good nature of the forum! Bow down Whistle Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

I have a set of these bars (the shorter flush end version) I bought some time ago second hand. Only tried them once and found I did not have the protective clear rubber protection pads that fit on the brackets. Without the pads the brackets can damage the paintwork. Still not been able to find a suitable replacement. Anyone know where I can get some? 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

my doors seemed to close on the brackets and the top of the bracket rubbed on the roof. The thule seem to be a better fit but IMO looked too tall and bulky

jimb090, I think I would benefit from the revised fitting kit you described. Any forecast when they will be available? 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

I spoke to the guy yesterday. He said they are finishing up the kit and it should be avaliable mid march that is the most I can get out of them. Once they release it will be avaliable worldwide

Hi Captain,
I sent an email to Whispbar a couple of days ago asking them for an update but haven't heard anything back yet. Will let you know when I hear from them.

huray!

I'm in on this!!! I purchased the whispbar 8 months ago and its been fine but the benefits of fitting to the roof rail base would be outstanding!!
Greater weight carry
minimul fitting damage
no long term door seal damage
big cost saving on roof rails then you still have to purchase cross bars ($800)
Attractive ! and still sporty! laught more folks !
