Sounds like a bush at the rear and a wheel bearing at the front, both relatively simple to fix Td4 XS manual, Orkney Grey, MY2014 |

Alternatively the noise from the front could be a CV joint Td4 XS manual, Orkney Grey, MY2014 |

If you're getting directional feedback it could be the stabiliser bar bushes as your rear wheel is developing 'self steer' due to the slack bush, but any of the bushes on the roll bar, stabiliser bar or drop link can manifest in a clonking noise. Get it checked because while it's worn you're also eating a tyre. On a 57 plate vehicle of any description I'd expect bushes to be at end of life. Td4 XS manual, Orkney Grey, MY2014 |

Yours is one of the early ones, 2007, check the top of the Struts on the Rear Suspension, early ones the rubber was to small and came loose, they modified it by fitting a bigger rubber . |

No - terrain response on a Freelander doesn't affect the suspension. |
