rear suspension strut adjustment?

I had the gs up on ramps to look at the rear underside for any damage and noticed the rear suspension strut lower brackets/clamps were not clamping the strut at the end of the struts like the front do, there was approx 20mm visible. Being even noisier I rolled onto flat ground and checked the arch to ground clearance, both were the same however on crawling underneath I have 210mm clearance to the front tie rod/suspension arm bracket but only 200mm clearance to the fuel tank hanger brackets.
Q? Is it easy enough to drop the clamp down on the strut base (to give me my 10mm back lol) or are they notched for single setting only?
Cheers Gordy
Ps only 1/3 tank of fuel at the time.
